Seven years ago, in early 2005, Richard Kent and Steve Mayo founded Create Events. Within six months the company had contracts with a major American pharmaceutical company and has since delivered jaw dropping events in cities across the USA and Europe, including Chicago, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Berlin, Sweden, Amsterdam, Paris, London and Barcelona. The key to the company's success is absolute attention to detail in every aspect of every event. This uncompromising approach is hard to follow and a rare commodity.
Richard and Steve are internationally recognised for their handling and organising of exclusive VIP incentive programs, Product Launches and Private & Corporate CSR programs. They share a real pride in their work and live for the thrill of delivering the perfect event. This is a skill they work very hard to instill in all of their teams.
Steve Mayo started his first company at 15, offering Discotheque and AV services across the South of England. Three years later, Steve was signed by one of London's premier entertainment agencies, leading to event work at many of the Capitol's top venues and hotels, including The Savoy, Four Seasons Park Lane, County Hall and Selfridges.
With two exclusivity deals (for Hilton Hotels & IBM) the following year, Steve gained extensive hospitality experience. A request to organise the entertainment for the Virgin Atlantic 10-year Anniversary VIP parties, overlooking the Houses of Paliament in London, led to further work for the Virgin Group at the annual Virgin Atlantic Staff Parties at Richard Branson's house in Oxfordshire. These opportunities allowed Steve to expand his skills into all areas of outdoor event production and fostered a life long passion for live events.
In the meantime, Steve graduated with an honours degree in Communication Engineering from the University of London and took on a World Bank project in Malawi, Southern Africa, for 1 year, implementing a radical technology solution for the Reserve Bank. Whilst in Malawi he started the country's first DMC Service, delivering successful events for the British High Commission, Government of Malawi and KLM. Steve's time in Malawi bestowed an ongoing love of foreign travel and his next role was for a Global Technology Services Provider, implementing their technology across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, for prestigious clients including STA Travel, Christian Salvesen and IKEA.
Richard Kent, following studies in European Business Management, was at the forefront of changing the face of Leeds city centre to the modern cultured Café Society we see today. In 1994 Richard helped create Arts Café Bar and Restaurant, the first European style late night café-bar of its kind in the North and by working in association with Leeds Development Corporation, this venue and the many others which followed, turned the former "red light" district of Leeds into the heart of the city with Cafés, Bars and Late Night Live music venues.
Following his success in Leeds, Richard was headhunted to assist in the successful re-branding and launch of the Benabola Complex situated in the heart of Puerto Banus, Spain. The Complex overlooks the marina and consists of 4 Bars, 3 Restaurants, a large apartment complex, luxury hotel and exclusive event space. This is where Richards’s love of events blossomed. It gave him the opportunity to gain extensive event production and marketing experience working on high level events across the region with clients ranging from Investment Banks and VIP Incentives through to high profile / high security events for Arab royalty.
Richard then moved back to the UK and had a very successful career in London as Head of Corporate Sales and Marketing for a large multinational PLC, with direct P & L accountability for turnover in excess of £50m. Richard was instrumental in securing contracts with more than 70 of the FTSE top 100 companies.
